Saifeena - Kareena and Saif together on ramp for first time

Kareena Kapoor, who strutted down the ramp for her friend Manish Malhotra's bridal collection at the ongoing HDIL India Couture Week in Mumbai with her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan, says it was a very special show for her.

"I have walked the ramp so many times in the past for my friend Manish, but this was different and very special because for the first time I was walking with Saif. It's always a special feeling to be with him," Kareena told IANS after the show.

Added Saif: "Yeah, it was a lot of fun. We had fun during rehearsals as well."

While sashaying down the ramp Kareena kept looking at the audiences smilingly while Saif managed to keep a poker face.

The front row was occupied by an array of Bollywood celebrities who had to squeeze in to get a place in the jam-packed show area.

Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, Kajol, Imran Khan, Dino Morea, Uday Chopra, Sophie Chaudhary, and Boney Kapoor and Sridevi who came with their daughters, added to the glamour quotient.

The collection was called "Destination Wedding" and the set decorated with white drapes falling from the rooftop looked like a dream sequence of a Bollywood movie.

The background music had chartbusters from Hindi films like "Emotional Atayachaar", "Twist", "Chor Bazzari" among others.

The line had an interesting combination of colours like peach, ivory and beige. With minimalist embroidery and a lot of bling, Malhotra's collection was stylish and at the same time sexy as well.

"These days many people in India are having their wedding out of their country. Last month I designed for a wedding in Portugal. I want people to know what colours and silhouettes should be worn at such weddings," said Malhotra.

The range had everything a bride could dream of - from lehengas to off-shoulder kurtas, from long jackets to stylish cholis (blouse).

Saif's Nonstop Kissing To Kareena?

A nod of approval from papa Randhir Kapoor has made Bebo and Saif a happy B-town couple and their joy is being reflected on reel as well.

We hear that Saif and Kareena have created a record for the longest kiss on camera for their upcoming movie Kurbaan.

According to unit sources, Saif continued to kiss Kareena and the kiss seemed to be never ending. It is one of the special attractions of the film.

Director Rensil D'Silva wants to present the chemistry between the real life lovers in the movie.

He is banking on the kissing scene so much so that Rensil believes that a certain section of the sex-starved audience will come to the theatres just to see Saif and Kareena in bed.

"A section of the audience might have decided to see this movie only to see the real-life couple making hot shot on the silver screen. It would be tragic," says Rensil.

Saif Ali Khan Feels Proud To Did Kurbaan

His "Love Aaj Kal" has completed 50 days at the box office and has earned more than Rs.65 crores (Rs.650 million) just within India. Now actor-producer Saif Ali Khan is looking forward to "Kurbaan" - a film he admits he is proud of having acted in being a Muslim.

"As a Muslim I feel proud of the fact that I have done this film. This is one of the most socially relevant films today. It is good that it is coming at just the time when our country needs cinema like this, " Saif told in an interview.

Set in the US, "Kurbaan" is a romantic thriller with terrorism as its backdrop.

A Karan Johar production directed by debutant Rensil D'Silva, "Kurbaan" also stars Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza, Kirron Kher and Om Puri. It is slated to release Nov 27.

Saif reveals that he now has a new career plan in place. "I would now be working on two-three films a year and make sure that I cover a wide spectrum. While a couple of them would be big, nice commercial films, another would be a relatively smaller film that can be completed in 30 days flat."

After "Love Aaj Kal", his next production venture is "Agent Vinod". But shooting for the film is still a little distance away.

"Final touches on the script are being given and we have been looking at getting the best technicians on board. I guess by the end of this year, we should begin shooting.

"In any case I am in no tearing hurry to ready my next film. One should space things out, invest good time to publicise things and get the right preparation in place for the making of the film, " said Saif.

He is also careful that his personal life, especially his health, doesn't suffer due to his professional commitments.

"It is of paramount importance that one looks after the body as well as brain. I go to the gym regularly as well as spend some good time with family. As far as work is concerned, I have certainly become even more serious about production after 'Love Aaj Kal'.

"We have learnt quite some lessons after the release of our first film and the idea is to leverage from some mistakes that we may have made. My investment as a producer is bound to increase from here on."

Meanwhile, the success of "Love Aaj Kal" and "Race" (2008) have made it closer for him to the top-five league. While Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan are firmly placed in the top league, Saif too is not that far away.

"I don't know much about that. All such number placements are for other people to state, study and analyse. As for me, I know today that I'm in a position to make the film that I want to make.

I am also confident that the film I would make will carry some meaning to people. My project should now carry certain amount of weight and direction and for that one has to be a bankable star."

He continues to shrug away the entire numbers game.

"This number business is quite fluctuating actually; so one should not be worried about it. What you should worry about more is that now since people have higher expectations from you, you should deliver even better in your next assignments, " Saif said.

Sharmila Tagore - Don't Take Easy To Saif As Actor For Work

Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore loves watching her son's films as any mother does and feels his acting has improved phenomenally over the years. At the same time she says Saif Ali Khan is not the easiest of actors to work with.

"As an actor, Saif has grown by leaps and bounds. I think in 'Love Aaj Kal', his monologues are really good. And over time, he has become a very sensitive actor. I am really proud of him, " Sharmila told in an interview.

Talking about some of her favourite Saif-starrers, the 62-year-old actress named films like "Love Aaj Kal", "Omkara", "Parineeta", "Ek Hasina Thi", "Hum Tum", "Being Cyrus", "Kal Ho Na Ho" and "Dil Chahta Hai".

"They are all such different roles that he has played and in such a variety of films. I feel he has an energy in him that makes me want to see him on screen, " she said.

If Sharmila is to be believed, Saif is not an easy actor to work with and says she is confident that he would have been a menace for most of his directors.

"I really don't know how the directors work with him. He is a difficult actor to work with. The directors probably pull their hair out. How it happens I don't know, but I like what I see of him on screen, " she said.

The mother and son have featured together in "Aashik Aawara" (1993) and "Eklavya - The Royal Guard" (2007).

"He has been very lucky to work with people like Vishal Bharadwaj, Imtiaz Ali, Pradeep Sarkar and Farhan Akhtar, who have given him meaningful and meaty roles, " she added.

According to the doting mother of three - Saif, Soha and Saba, her son's most forgettable role has been in "Tashan", where he was cast with Kareena Kapoor. But rather than being extremely critical of his performances, she likes to watch his work like a regular audience.

"I am content to be just a mother to all my children. When I see a film, I see it as any other audience member. I react as an audience. If I feel there are issues with make-up or dialogue delivery, I tell him and he listens to them. But I believe in constructive criticism. So I give suggestions that they can build on, not something that they can't do anything about, " she clarified.

While Saif branched out from being just an actor to being a producer for his last release "Love Aaj Kal", Sharmila doubts his ability to manage financial issues.

"I can't really give Saif the credit for being a producer. He may have contributed to the creative side of it, but the rest was all done by his partner Dinu (Dinesh Vijan). Saif doesn't have the patience or inclination to manage finance. He doesn't understand the concept of money. Dinesh is the one who kept it all within the budget and did a very credible job, " she said.

As of now, Sharmila, who is married to Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, is hoping for a family reunion soon as it's been a long time since they have all met at one place.

"Such a meeting where all of us are together has to be impromptu. Sometimes if Saif can come, Soha can't as she can't dictate terms to her producers. But we see them individually. We met Saif at Interlaken some time back.

All of us together is a little difficult but we might manage it soon as we have a wedding coming up in the family, " said Sharmila, who was recently seen in Amol Palekar's Marathi film "Samaantar".

Saif & Kareena Spend A Day With His Parents

With the stress of his first production "Love Aaj Kal" finally over and elated with the positive audience response, Saif Ali Khan decided to unwind by spending time with his parents. And girlfriend Kareena Kapoor joined in, making it a real cosy affair.

"I was a little under the weather on Friday (August 1) and very anxious about how 'Love Aaj Kal' will be received. But now I'm fine. Yes, Kareena and I were chilling out with abba (Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi) and amma (Sharmila Tagore) all day on Friday," Saif told IANS.

Saif flew into Delhi for a special screening of "Love Aaj Kal" on Thursday. After the event, rest of the "Love Aaj Kal" cast and crew flew back - director Imtiaz Ali to Mumbai, Deepika Padukone to London, but Saif stayed back.

The film released on Friday and got an overwhelming response.

"The reports coming in about 'Love Aaj Kal' are very encouraging. Both the reviews and the box office collections have been very generous. I couldn't have hoped for a better start as a producer," said the actor

Deepika Padukone Talked About Ranbir - Saif Ali Khan

What is it about Deepika Padukone that makes one get obsessed about her? Of course she's beautiful and tall. But is there something else? Maybe it's a magical spell. We dunno.

Would we have been better off not knowing she existed so she wouldn't be on our mind? Is it love? It better not be because Ranbir might just be reading this interview... Padukone is a heart-shaped beauty that sends men into fits of sputtering praise.

Devansh Patel speaks to the 21st century's pin up girl on her Kal In-Laws, her Aaj love Ranbir, her aaj kal idea about love, her being a love guru, Saif's love tips and much more.

Producers Aaj Kal
''I think both Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan have been extremely professional. I couldn't tell for a minute that they are first time producers. They have left no stone unturned.

Right from approaching me for the film to the time that we are now ready to showcase our film to the world. Today's producers are more agile and are jack of all. They are young, think new and are far more experienced in the film industry than other independent producers.''

Imtiaz Kal
''Having worked with Imtiaz Ali, I can definitely tell that the success of his earlier film Jab We Met hasn't got into him. He hasn't even realised to date how big a film Love Aaj Kal has turned out to be. That's what makes him special.

The fact that Imtiaz is here to make good cinema and not be affected by the success or the failure of the film. What makes it even more special is the fact that Imtiaz had signed me for this film before Om Shanti Om had released. That brings in you a lot of confidence.''

Imtiaz Aaj
''I would call him a new age director. But he does have sensibilities as an Indian and what the Indian cinema is really about. He has a good balance of both.''

The film
''The film is what the title is. Love was the same twenty years back or today. It has never changed. For different people, it might be different things. What's good about this film is that every generation will relate to this film.

Like I said, love is a universal language. Everyone experience it at some point in their life. That's the USP of the film. I'm sure people are going to use the same lines that Saif and I have used in Love Aaj Kal. It'll be a trendsetter.''

London shoot
''Yes, we have shot the film in London and on the outskirts of London. The beauty in the way the cameraman has shot London is very unusual.

You do not see the Big Ben, the Leicester Square, Oxford Street, Madame Tussauds or Millenium Dome. It's very real. We've shot some scenes in a coffee shop which went really candid. It's time the technicians experiment and as I said, the producer too brings in their new inputs.''

London Aaj
''It was a great experience shooting in London this time around. Whenever anyone says that we are shooting in London, I get really excited because you shoot for so many months out there and it instantly feels like it's your city.

It has changed off late it seems. I guess the way we've shot the film that's why. But today's London is all about youth. All about new life. I'm shooting my next film in London titled Housefull with Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Riteish Deshmukh.''

Saif Ali Khan Aaj
''He is one of the most talented actors our film industry has. He is also someone who has brought in a different kind of actor after Dil Chahta Hai.

Apart from that, Dil Chahta Hai was the first of its kind of new cinema to venture out of the traditional commercial films being churned out. Saif Ali Khan has also improved his dancing skills (laughs) off late. There isn't any other change except that he has grown a beard and plays a sardar.''

Deepika's Love Aaj:
''I believe in being loved and be in love and be in a beautiful relationship. I've seen my parents in a lovely twenty five years of their marriage and happy together. That's what I've seen all my life. Both together always.

I am like that and so is Ranbir. Nothing has changed between me and Ranbir. We've spent a lot of time together and in return we've known each other better. I am comfortable with Ranbir today.''

In-Laws Kal
''It was a true pleasure working with Rishiji and Neetuji. It's an honour to be working with both of them because they are such senior actors and talented. It's too early to tell whether they'll be my In-Laws. But his passion and dedication towards what he does is impeccable. He is an enthusiast.''

Love Guru
''I don't know whether I'll be a love guru to anyone (laughs). But everyone likes to give their inputs on love to someone else. You are your best judge and you'll know who is the best for you.''

Upset Pack Up
''The last day of the shoot and the day of pack up had arrived. I was really upset and never wanted this journey to end. I would like to believe that before the film hits the big screens, the journey never ends.

We are promoting the film till its last day and that's not the end. The day my film will release, I'll be happy and upset that it's all over now. The memorable journey has come to an end.''

Love tips from Saif
''This man is loaded with love tips. He will give you lots of things to take home at the end of the day. We did chat about 'Love' in general, his love for Kareena and so on. He is very intelligent when it comes to love. He has a lot of knowledge otherwise besides love.''

Love tips to Ranbir
''You are the last person I'll tell (laughs).''

Want Love Aaj Kal To Break Records - Kareena Kapoor

Her recent release "Kambakkht Ishq" has seen the best opening of 2009 so far. But Kareena Kapoor wants boyfriend Saif Ali Khan's "Love Aaj Kal" to even surpass her film's record and enjoy phenomenal success at the box office.

"I really want 'Love Aaj Kal' to break all box-office records. Yes, 'Kambakkht Ishq' is my film but then so is 'Love Aaj Kal'. For both Saif and me 'Love Aaj Kal' is a not just a prestigious project but also something which is very close to our hearts", Kareena told.

Releasing Friday, "Love Aaj Kal" is Saif's first production venture. Tell her that expectations are huge from the movie as well as Saif and she nods in agreement.

"Yes, I'm aware about the huge expectations and I also know that 'Love Aaj Kal' has turned out to be a lovely film. The good part is that the film has generated all around positive vibes and everyone expects good things from the film, " she said.

With Saif playing two characters - Jai Vardhan Singh and Veer Singh (the younger version of Rishi Kapoor) - "Love Aaj Kal" touches upon the universal essence of love.

According to director Imtiaz Ali, "the process of relationship might be different in different eras, but the experience of being in love remains the same".

Another factor that makes "Love Aaj Kal" a special film for Kareena is the fact that it has Imtiaz at the driving seat.

"I have worked with Imtiaz in 'Jab We Met' and ever since then we all expect so much from him. He has great sensibilities of a storyteller and can't set a foot wrong. I really hope and pray that 'Love Aaj Kal' manages to strike a chord with audiences in the same way as 'Jab We Met', " she said.

Remembering her stint in "Jab We Met", Kareena agrees that it was an extraordinary experience.

"To play a character like 'Geet' (her screen name in 'Jab We Met') doesn't happen all the time; it just happens. When you begin working on a film, you of course know about the story and your character. However, no one knows how audiences would eventually react to it. 'Geet' did strike a chord with the audiences and became a household name, " she said.

One expects something similar from "Love Aaj Kal" as well that also stars Deepika Padukone. Apart from them, Rishi Kapoor and Rahul Khanna will also be seen in pivotal roles with Neetu Singh in a guest appearance.

Sardar Act Looks Staged Of Akshay - Saif Ali Khan

We catch-up with Saif Ali Khan who is quite nervous on his debut as a producer, and gets chatty on his production venture Love Aaj Kal and of course girlfriend Kareena. Are you satisfied with your maiden production venture? Have you given it hundred percent?

Right now, I am nervous since I am newcomer as a producer. Everything is a result of your decision; nonetheless, it has been a different experience.

As a producer you are never satisfied, you want more and more but we have taken care of every detail and it has been organized well. We have had a great team, and I have learnt a lot in the process.

My partner Dinesh Vijan has been a great help. I was more involved in the creative aspect of the film. But it has been an exciting journey. Many of your contemporaries have already become producers; did you take tips from them?

I think I have been fortunate in working with few great producers and big established banners. I have learned a lot of things from friends like Yash Raj Productions and Dharma Productions.

As for my friends Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar would have been happy to advise me. We tried our best but, I haven’t really called anyone. What made you turn producer? My interest is really not in production but after 18 years, you like to own and be creatively on your own.

A lot of money is involved and your inputs mean something else. I want to learn more about business. The market earlier was different. Most heroes have moved on and turned actor directors or producers.

There are not many independent producers left to work with. Reportedly Kareena wanted to play the lead opposite you in LAK? None of the directors listen to me.

Imtiaz felt that Deepika suited the role better. You are working with Deepika for the first time how was it? I think we look nice and refreshing. She’s a new face and she’s young.

She’s got an Indian look and is very grounded and mature. Her personality grounds me on the screen just like Rani Mukherjee does. They are very earthy just opposite of me. What is Love Aaj Kal about?

The story primarily is about Jai who doesn’t believe in love and is practical. He believes that long distance relationship is a pain, so why not just be friends and don’t follow your heart types.

He comes across a person who tells him what love is all about. Imtiaz has made a simple love story and it is not confusing love story as most people believe.

You are playing a Sardar in the film and Akshay and Salman have played Sardars before, what is your opinion about them? I think we are different. I have not seen Salman’s film but I saw Akshay in Singh is King and I think it was glamorous and commercial. It was cool, stagey and larger than life. It’s unfair to compare us.
