Shiney Ahuja Arrested For Raping His Maid:To be Produced in Court

Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja was on Sunday detained for questioning at a suburban police station in Mumbai after his domestic help alleged that he had raped her."The domestic help, who has been working at Ahuja's residence in suburban Oshiwara, alleged that the actor had raped her on Sunday afternoon," Deputy Commissioner of Police Niket Kaushik told PTI."We have registered a FIR and called Ahuja to the police station for questioning in the matter to verify the facts," he said.The house maid in her complaint has alleged that Ahuja raped her at his residence when they were alone, Kaushik said.

Turn of events

1 pm- 3 pm: Shiney Ahuja allegedly rapes his housemaid
3-6 pm: The maid meets her relatives and narrates the incident
6.30-7 pm: She goes to Oshiwara police station to file a complaint against Ahuja
8.30 pm: The police go to Ahuja's house at Tarapore Gardens, Oshiwara, and bring him in for inquiry
9 pm - 2 am: The police question Ahuja in an air-conditioned room
2 am: The police take the maid to the police hospital in Nagpada for medical tests
4.30 am: She is brought back to the police station

Shiney Ahuja might be a rape accused, but he is first a star as far as the Oshiwara police are concerned.The actor, who has been accused of raping his maidservant, has been enjoying the VIP treatment at the police station ever since he was picked up yesterday evening.The maid, who is said to be between 18 to 22 years old, filed the complaint alleging that he had raped her at his residence when the apartment was empty. His wife, daughter and parents were in Noida.

In such cases, the alleged accused is immediately sent for the medical test and arrested based on the preliminary reports.However, Ahuja was taken for the test only at around 5.15 in the morning, a couple of hours after the victim had finished hers.This despite reports from police sources of Ahuja breaking down and confessing to the crime (see box).

He was arrested early this morning after the preliminary reports of the vicim's medical tests came in.The Oshiwara police defended their move, saying, "We are waiting for the medical reports of the girl to ascertain if she was raped.Once we get the reports and if it is proved that she was raped, we will send Ahuja for the medical test. Then, if proved guilty, we will arrest him."

Said DCP Niket Kaushik, "The girl filed the complaint today evening and we have brought Ahuja in for questioning? We are still investigating the matter.

"To make things even simpler Ahuja was questioned inside a senior cop's air-conditioned cabin. Ahuja's family and friends, who arrived at the police station around midnight, were also allowed to meet him in the cabin.

Confession

Said a police official, "Ahuja initially denied the crime, but later broke down into tears and confessed that he had raped the maid," adding that the questioning was very dramatic.When asked about the confession, DCP Niket Kaushik, only said, "the enquires are on and he is yet to be arrested."Shiney, who has been charged of rape under section 376, is expected to be arrested today morning.
