Pooja Gandhi - the Monsoon Rain Girl!
Mungaru Male (translation: Monsoon Rain) is one of biggest hit setting the first Indian language movie to run for 1 year at PVR cinemas Bangalore. This movie zoom the careers of Ganesh, the hero of the film; Tograj Bhat, the director; Jayant Kaikini, the lyricist who songs was on the tongue of every Kannada movie goer! The movie grossed over 75 Crores at the end of 400 days run.
Mungaru Male also bring fame to its heroine, Pooja Gandhi (then known as Sanjana Gandhi). Pooja Gandhi hails from Punjab, studied in New Delhi. Her father Pawan Gandhi is a businessman. Midway through her first year of graduation, she left for her acting career when she got an opportunity in Bengali movie, Tum ake Salam in 2003. Then she moved to south Indian film industry to do a Tamil film KOKKI which flop. Success came in form of a Kannada move, Mungaru Male, the biggest ever hit of Kannada movie. Now she has done about dozen movies in Kannada. She has acted with such stars like Upendra, Ramesh Arvind, Ravichandran and Jaggesh.
August 2008 release of Pooja Gandhi, “Kodagana Koli Nungitha” is opposite Jaggesh directed by Vaasu.
Her younger sister Radhika Gandhi tried her luck in the Kannada movie “Balli” opposite newcomer Rajan in the lead directed by Sudhakar Bannaje.
Budhdhivantha released recently in September 2008. The film is doing very well across Karnataka and Pooja Gandhi has done another good work in this movie.
